Malvern Borough To Receive $360K In American Rescue Act Funds

MALVERN, PA — Malvern Borough has applied for funds from the American Rescue Plan and awaits news on the $361,632 it may receive for relief to individuals and businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Malvern Borough submitted its application to the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) on June 7, said Borough Council President Amy Finkbiner. "We are actively discussing potential uses for these funds based on the guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Treasury," Finkbiner said. The use of American Rescue Plan funds must be determined by Dec. 31, 2024 and the funds must be spent by Dec. 31, 2026, the legislation states. Finkbiner said the Borough is considering "a large variety of potential options in order to maximize the benefit to the community. Any uses will be reviewed by the Public Works and Finance and Administration Committees of Borough Council, with the Finance and Administration Committee considering requests from outside organizations." The Council President said all potential uses will be announced at public meetings. The America Rescue Plan Act of 2021 included $120 billion for county and municipal governments.
