IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — Patch reader Léon Maestas, admin of the IB LOCALS Facebook group, captured this photo of "Surfhenge," an acrylic sculpture at Portwood Pier Plaza in Imperial Beach. The sculpture is made up of four 16- to 20-foot-high "surfboard shaped arches, weighing up to three-quarters of a ton each, which are believed to be the largest colored acrylic moldings ever cast," according to the Port of San Diego's website. "Alluding to giant surfboards stuck in the sand, the huge colored shapes of Surfhenge pay homage to the proud surfing heritage of Imperial Beach." Thanks for sharing!
