Description

Young Khakis 2 Hens 2 Drakes Toledo Someone abandoned these Khaki Campbell’s in a park and my friend rescued them about 3 weeks ago. She couldn’t keep them so I tried to take them in while completely ignorant about ducks. They’ve been so fun to have around but I’ve realized the reality is that my backyard is way too small to make it permanent. As they are rescues, I don’t know age. The boys heads are beginning to turn green. They aren’t mating yet. Today a drake climbed on a hens back for a moment but didn’t stay. They are skittish because they are ducks of course. They will come to me if I have food and they come to the back door when they want to eat. They’ll eat out of our family’s hands but unless food is involved they prefer a 5 foot distance. They like us around as long we don’t come toward them. I spend a lot of time in the yard so they are used to my presence and seem to prefer when I’m out there. One of the girls tolerates being held for a few minutes. One of the boys likes to watch me through a window when I’m not outside. 😂 Some nights they go to bed when I open their door and say “time for bed”. Other nights we play a fun little game of chase and herd that doesn’t last more than a couple of minutes. They’re pretty good about it. I think they’re great ducks but I don’t have anything to compare them too. I enjoy them a lot and it breaks my heart I don’t have the space needed to keep them permanently.
