On-call, as required. Hiring Range: $19.42 - $21.37 per hour, depending on experience. NATURE OF WORK As a member of the Parks, Recreation & Culture Division, individuals in this position perform skilled work in the operations of swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), facility maintenance, repairs and replacing mechanical, chemical or hardware of facilities and pools. Individuals inspect facilities and pools to ensure safety and appropriate appearances; prepares outdoor pool and buildings for summer operation and winter shutdown; handles hazardous chemicals, such as chlorine for pool set ups; repairs and replaces defective electrical parts and monitors/maintains HVAC systems. Position supervises and assists Facility Specialists in the upkeep and cleaning of Town buildings as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The individual in the Pool and Facilities Maintenance Technician role is assigned specific assignments, job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements as determined by the Town, department, division, and pursuant to laws, regulation and practices. Individuals in this position must be able to successfully perform, be responsible for and/or assist in the fulfillment of many job functions and duties with or without reasonable accommodations. The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive: Monitors and maintains numerous chlorination and water filtration systems; coordinates, assigns and supervises daily cleaning of aquatic facilities. Assists aquatic staff in testing water in pools; adjusting chemistry as needed, maintains standards and ensure proper oxidation and sanitation levels. Keeps pool components and pump room in clean, working order. Performs pump room duties, including backwash, handling and installation of chemicals as necessary. Completes daily and monthly reports; maintains related records and statistics for equipment and maintenance programs. Stays up to date on health codes and national aquatic certification guidelines. Inspects and assures cleanliness and appearance of the Community Recreation Center. Completes start up and shut down of systems and operations of all Town pools. Performs a variety of general maintenance and repairs of community recreation center buildings and facilities for upkeep and preservation. Performs preventative maintenance on facility equipment, HVAC, pumps, suction lines, drains, piping, valves, skimmer taps and flow control switches of each system. Assists with annual inspections to ensure a safe environment for users and compliance with CIRSA standards and Fire Safety Codes. Completes work orders according to set standards and priorities. Maintains and performs general maintenance throughout aquatic and recreation facilities throughout the Town. Detects and reports defective, destroyed materials or equipment with questionable conditions. Monitors work performed by contractors as requested. Coordinates, assigns, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned staff; makes recommendations for discipline; assists with the recruitment and selection of new staff. Obtains quotes; prepares purchase requisitions; places orders and receives shipments. Maintains maintenance issues; maintains accurate safety records including SDS files. Responds to patron questions, requests, concerns and complaints; resolves or refers problems; explains and enforces security policies. Ensures compliance with departmental standards, Town codes, and ADA guidelines. Conduct regular pool maintenance (test and maintain water quality, adjust automated systems and chlorination settings, clean filters and back wash, brush and vacuum pools, clean tile, clean decking and pool areas, etc.). Supports a service culture of two-way dialogue and ensures all internal clients, as well as division employees, receive timely and relevant information. Performs snow removal and applies material to prevent slips as needed. May train other staff, as needed. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING Minimum of two (2) years of experience in pool operations, construction, mechanical, chemical, HC and/or building maintenance, or in a related field High school diploma or GED Equivalent combination of education and experience LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Must have a current Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one upon hire, that meets the Town of Windsor’s standards Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatics Facility Operator certification required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire HVAC certification preferred CPR/1st Aid certification within three (3) months of employment ***** FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION AND TO APPLY PLEASE VISIT: www.windsorgov.com/jobs *****
