Local homestead farm seeking a part-time farmhand.

Description

We have sheep and goats, honeybees, poulty, a small garden, fruit trees and brambles. Job responsibilities include providing assistance in helping to grow crops and raise livestock, feeding and watering livestock, caring for animals, keeping records, helping with the maintenance of buildings and equipment, planting crops, preparing the soil, managing pests and weeds. Helpful job skills include active listening, ability to work without supervision, good critical thinking skills, knowledge of farming, good communication skills, and ability to problem-solve. Expect to use farm and landscaping equipment such as a small tractor, string trimmer, chainsaw, log splitter, hand tools. Must be able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs. A driver's license is not required, but you must arrange for your own transportation to and from the site. Hours are flexible, based on weather and workload, from 10-40 hours per week. Summer, seasonal, and year-round part-time are all possible arrangements. Multiple openings are available. Great summer job for teens and college students looking to pick up some straightforward outdoor work. We're located in Pennsburg, near the Upper Perk YMCA.
