Description

Hello everybody. First off, I want to thank you all for the kind and well...not so kind responses to my post. To sum it up, earlier this week I found a baby bird that had fallen from the overpass. It was a little baby pigeon. He fell right in the middle of an extremely busy road. I did what I felt was the best thing to do at the time and pulled my car over the help it. The poor guy had fallen quite a distance. I panicked and posted here on craigslist just after it happened around 6:30am. I couldn't get a hold of any sanctuaries or anybody that would properly care for the little fella. I was then lucky enough to contact an angel of a lady named Deb. She nurses animals back to health and works directly with the New Hampshire wildlife federation. She was quite far from me but I did what I had to do. I took the day off of work and drove a 130 miles to meet Deb and potentially get this bird the happy little life it ever so deserved. She said he was so little that he wasn't able to eat on his own yet. So at the end of the day we were successful at saving this little fella and got him the food, shelter and love it needs to grow up strong, healthy and happy. Due to the number of overwhelming responses I received, I wanted you all to know that everything was successful in the end. Now, I completely understand that nature needs to take its course. But had I not done something the bird was guaranteed to have met a very unfortunate fate. I had people email me and tell me to go put it back in the middle of the road were I found it or that I should have just left it and let nature take its course. (by letting a car run it over!?) I made a split second decision and I am proud of the decision I made. At the end of the day the bird was saved and I felt good about myself for doing something noble. So I am sorry to those I disappointed by picking up the bird to begin with. However, I would drive another 130 miles and do it all again tomorrow if I had to. God bless you all!...and our little feathered friends. Have a great day. -Ryan H. Share the earth, respect the earth and enjoy the earth.
