Soils & Materials Laboratory Technician BURBANK, CALIFORNIA Established in 1971, GEOCON is a dynamic Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Services, Engineering Geology, and Construction Inspection firm with 9 offices throughout Northern and Southern California. We work on a wide variety of projects ranging from new and innovative school campuses to major transportation projects which help maintain infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion in California. GEOCON’s Burbank office has an immediate opening for full-time employment for a hardworking, self-motivated, individual to assist in performing construction materials testing in our in-house soils and materials testing laboratory. The position is for full-time employment in our soils and materials testing laboratory in Burbank, California (near the airport). The ideal candidate should want to make a career out of this position. Geocon is willing to teach and train everything needed to make the candidate successful in this position. We only ask that the candidate have a good attitude and show up on time. Compensation: Starting pay will be $16 per hour with an increase when the employee has learned the basics, plus the opportunity for annual bonuses and salary increases. Education: No college degree required, but we prefer a high school degree or equivalent. This position will include training on the job Essential Functions: The employee must be able to: • Learn and perform all tests certified to perform in our laboratory according to ASTM and CalTrans testing procedures. • Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and assignments. • Keep work area clean and organized daily, maintain all laboratory equipment used. • Understand the Geocon Illness and Injury Prevention Program and maintain a safe work environment. Physical Demands: This job generally is limited to our laboratory environment but could include field time to collect samples. It requires the ability to lift 50-pound samples or equipment.
