QC2's Summer School is all about developing the lab skills critical for brewery QC. This class focuses on microscopy and cell counts.
QC2 Summer School Class #2 focuses on microscopy! Class will start with a basic introduction to the parts of the microscope before transitioning to hands-on learning in the lab. Participants will become comfortable using a microscope to visualize microbes found in beer samples. The class will also focus on yeast cell counting on a hemocytometer. Participants will leave the session ready to start using a microscope in their brewery lab!
QC2 Summer School is brought to you by the Quality Control Collaboratory, a premier beer QC testing lab located in the University of Southern Maine. Luci Benedict, QC2 founder, and Sam White, QC2 lab coordinator, will be joined by Matt Nelson of Bissell Brothers Brewing for these practical, hands-on classes designed to build the skills needed to start up, or expand, your brewery's QC program.
