Description
BEWARE: Allison Irvin & Matthew Irvin, located in Alabaster, AL — outside Birmingham. Allison also goes by Allison Graham.
These are the definition of Backyard Breeders. They bred two dogs at just 1 year of age, neither had any genetic testing, no OFA certification on their hips or elbows, no conformation or skill titles, nothing. The same applies to the rest of their pedigree. The bitch also came from inbred lineage (her father was also her great-grandfather, bred back to his daughter), which is known to cause congenital defects in progeny.
They produced a puppy born March 16th who was born with a severe congenital heart defect — Mitral Valve Dysplasia with LVOT obstruction. His prognosis without treatment is 3-6 months until congestive heart failure. When contacted about this puppy’s diagnosis via veterinary cardiologist, these backyard breeders refused to refund the buyers’ money or do anything about it. They eventually convinced the owner to surrender the puppy back to them, under the promise that they would provide veterinary care for him. 24 hours later, Allison took the puppy to be euthanized. Luckily for him, a veterinary technician at the hospital convinced Allison to surrender him instead. He is now with me, receiving appropriate veterinary care. Yet despite attempting to have the puppy euthanized, they communicated to the former owner that he was “doing well”, as if he were still with them. They flat out lied.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
