Description
This course is an introduction to the concepts involved with tree appraisal. Arborists are often asked, "What is that tree worth?" Often it is general interest in their tree values. However, more likely it is about a claim for damages or a loss. This is where it is important to understand the foundations of the tree appraisal process to help your client or tree owner, manager. There are principles and practices which allow Green Industry Professionals to render a reasonable and defensible opinion on the value of plants, especially trees that are bigger than found in the resale market. The Foundations of Tree Appraisal is a one-day seminar which will teach the principles of plant appraisal and work on case studies to help establish a baseline competence for the registrant. Cost includes handout materials and lunch. It is strongly encouraged to purchase and bring along the new 10th Edition of the Guide. It is available from the ISA bookstore now. Be prepared for weather as we will be outside for appraisal scenarios. 7 CEUs will be provided for ISA credential holders. The costs of this program have been subsidized by a grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Community and Urban Forestry. Lindsey Purcell, Urban Forestry Specialist and Instructor in the Forestry and Natural Resources Department at Purdue University, has been involved in the community landscape and urban forestry industry for over twenty-five years. As an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, he has served Indiana communities as a landscape and tree professional in municipal and private enterprise.
