LIVE AT THE BLACK BOX: True Lions/Sam Wells/Blue False Indigo True Lions is a Kansas City “flosspunk” alt-pop supergroup led by Alison Hawkins. They mesh members' backgrounds in classical, jazz, folk, punk, and blues, ultimately creating a well-rounded, uniquely fun sound. The band’s revolving lineup includes Elizabeth Kosko, Teri Quinn, Claire Adams, Aryana Nemati, KuJo, and Iona DeWalt. While they’re a gender-diverse collective of women/nonbinary/trans/boi/vegan multi-instrumentalists and genre-flirts, the focus of this project is not their genders or dietary restrictions, but rather, their attitudes, imaginations, and the group’s ability to empower and celebrate one another through the refuge they create within their music. They’re known for collaborations with artists such as Calvin Arsenia, Fritz Hutchison, Nan + the One Nite Stands, Adee Rocket Dancy, and Miki P & the Swallowtails, and cite influences like Cibo Matto, The Go-Go’s, Sleater-Kinney, The Raincoats, and Fanny. Their debut album The Fempire Strikes Back released April 9, 2021 via Manor Records. THIS EVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE GATES OPEN: 8pm SHOW: 9pm-12am **this event is approximately three hours in length** What to Bring: Your mask (required) and other PPE that makes you feel safe!
