YONKERS, NY — A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers.
Westchester County Police say the man was hit by a passing car at just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The pedestrian was stuck as he was attempting to cross the busy highway near the McLean Avenue Bridge.
The accident happened in the northbound lanes of the roadway after the man had already crossed three lanes of traffic and the concrete barrier between lanes, accident investigators said. The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours following the pedestrian accident.
The driver stayed at the scene of the accident. No charges or citations have been announced in connection with the incident.
