BROOKFIELD, WI — A Brookfield girl will sell lemonade to raise money for childhood cancer research this weekend.
McKenna Becker, 4, aims to raise $2,000 to research cancer cures for children by selling lemonade at Kessler's Diamonds (17260 W. Bluemound Rd., Suite 650) on Saturday.
The donation page is hosted by pediatric cancer charity Alex's Lemonade Stand. So far, Becker has raised $200 towards funding for researching neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that targets the adrenal glands.
The event is in honor of 4-year-old Francesca Taurisano, who was diagnosed with high risk relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia in May 2020, according to the event flyer.
Michelle Becker, McKenna's mother, said that she knew Taurisano through a mutual friend.
Fresh Thyme donated the lemonade for the event. Becker added that Original Cookies By Design and Sophie's Cha Cha Treats would donate to sell and that Kesslers Diamonds would donate a pendant to Taurisano.
"(McKenna) is very excited," Becker said about her daughter selling lemonade. "She loves meeting new people."
