Recess Playworks is seeking a Marketing and Communications unpaid Intern in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Recess Playworks is a children’s learning and art center committed to the fostering and development of children’s creativity and self-directed play. We provide engaging classes, all off-line, that bring out the best of a child’s imagination and creative ideas and promote fun and friendships. We strive to be a resource for parents in our community who want to provide a space for their children to explore their artistic talents. As an intern in Recess Playworks Marketing and Communications organization, you will assist the Director of Marketing and Communications in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail and web); Collect quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns; Help create and distribute marketing materials; Manage and update company database and customer relationship management systems (CRM). You will have an opportunity to help create the voice of the organization. Must have the ability to convey passion for our mission of fostering creative imaginative art and play for young children. Responsibilities Maintain and contribute to class schedule and calendar. Graphic in Canva. Write and queue up short articles for observances, events, and organizational happenings for staff intranet page • Update and create brochures, flyers, and other collateral for Recess PlayWorks programs • Create content for emails, newsletters, web pages, press releases, and social media • Support social media presence and execution including research of timely topics, events, content, info-graphics, and photos • Excellent writing skills • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, if necessary • Perform other related job duties required by Director of Communications and Resource Development • Manage and update company database and customer relationship management systems (CRM) • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, children and visitors Qualifications • Experience in: Communications; Public Relations; Marketing; Public Administration; Non-Profit Management; Digital/Social Media Design; or a related field • Experience with social media • Familiarity with CRM tools • Online analytics and Google Adwords • Strong writing skills • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
