Description
The School: Pine Crest School is a not-for-profit, independent, all-faith school with two campuses in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, Florida serving more than 2,600 students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve. We believe in educating a generation of students to be emotionally intelligent, intellectually inspired, and prepared to change the world. The Position: Core responsibilities are to drive a Pine Crest school bus transporting student’s to and from designated pickup points, including regular route and designated field trip destinations. A regular driver’s day will typically include a split shift with both an early morning route and an afternoon route. This may vary in the afternoon when the school calendar dictates an abbreviated school schedule. The Essential Job Functions: • Pre-trip inspection of assigned bus • Maintain a current CDL license as well as completing annual DOT physicals. Any traffic violations must immediately be reported to the office • Drive bus on assigned route, transporting students in a safe, professional manner. • All routes and driving duties are assigned by the Dispatcher or Transportation management. While striving to have each route staffed by the same driver for a semester period, drivers must understand they may be required to drive another route as designated by dispatch at any time for a specific shift or longer, as needed. • Drivers must keep track of student ridership logs for each trip, utilizing forms provided for that purpose. • Maintain discipline on the bus. Drivers are to promptly, fill out a Student Conduct Report for any incidents that they deem should require further discipline. These may involve behavioral issues or violations of bus ridership policy. • Supervise and assist in evacuation of students in case of emergency. Driver to promptly report any emergencies to office and fill out required forms. • Attend training for CPR certification on an ongoing basis as provided by Pine Crest. • Drivers must adhere to all published Pine Crest policies as well as any Department policies. • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English The following qualifications are: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a school bus driver • CDL License - Passenger and School endorsements required For security, all contractors and employees must submit to and pass an extensive background check.
