LANGLEY PARK, MD — Police said they charged five Maryland and Virginia men connected with the murder of 15-year-old Nelson Ramos of Takoma Park. The suspects all face charges of first-degree murder and related crimes, an incident report noted. Officers identified the accused men as: 20-year-old William Rivera-Martinez of Reston, Virginia 19-year-old Jiecsin Marcelo Portillo Cruz of Chillum 20-year-old Edras Araeli Lopez-Lopez of Langley Park 21-year-old Mario Alexander Clarios Arias of the 6300 block of Chillum 18-year-old Marlon Steven Miguel Ramirez of Hyattsville Authorities wrote that Rivera-Martinez is in custody in Fairfax County, Virginia and awaits extradition to Maryland. A court commissioner held the other suspects without bond, officials clarified. Police explained that they found the victim around 3:15 a.m. during an April 7 welfare check on the Ruatan Northwest Branch Trail in Langley Park. The write-up added that medics pronounced Ramos dead on the scene in a wooded area off the walking path. The trail falls in the jurisdiction of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, the press release informed. The Prince George's County Police Department indicated that it investigates all the homicides that occur in this area, however. Detectives asked anybody with information to call 301-516-2512.
