JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge has set bail at $20,000 for a 36-year-old Joliet woman was arrested by Joliet police on charges of battery, domestic battery and aggravated battery to a peace officer. Joliet police say Amelia Weis struck a man with a wrench during a domestic disturbance, and he was later taken to the hospital to have his injuries checked out by doctors.
Squad cars arrived at Weis' house in the 1900 block of Cumberland Court on Joliet's far west side, in the Plainfield area, around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"During an argument, Weis struck the victim multiple times in the face with her fists. Weis then followed the victim to the garage where she struck him in the leg with a wrench. The victim then called 911," Joliet police reports show.
As officers were attempting to put Weis in the back of a squad car, she kicked an officer in the leg and another officer in the arm, police reports state.
Police managed to secure Weis and deliver her to the Joliet Police Department and then to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. The victim was transported to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police said.
