NORTH CAROLINA — Thursday, President Joe Biden is set to make his first trip to North Carolina as president. Biden is set to deliver remarks in Raleigh emphasizing the importance of getting vaccinated. According to the White House, Biden is set to arrive at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on June 24 at 3:30 p.m. Shortly before 5 p.m., Biden will visit the Green Road Community Center mobile vaccination site in Raleigh to meet with frontline workers and volunteers. At 5:15 p.m., he is set to deliver remarks highlighting the importance of getting vaccinated, as well as kicking-off a community canvassing event. His visit in North Carolina will conclude around 6:30 p.m., when he is scheduled to return to Washington, D.C. Biden's visit comes as North Carolina, along with many other states, struggle to increase vaccination rates among residents to meet his goal of having 70 percent of adults vaccinated with at least one dose by July 4. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 65.6 percent of adults in the U.S. had at least one vaccination. As of Thursday, 55 percent of adults in the state had received at least one dose of vaccine, while 52 percent of adults were fully vaccinated, DHHS said.
