This position is responsible for the completion of projects in construction, facility maintenance, remodels, and repairs. MULTIPLE POSITIONS AND SHIFTS AVAILABLE - This is a full time benefited position. A day in the Life: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: *Performs repair and improvements to building including carpentry, minor plumbing, fixtures, playground inspections and repairs, lock sets and hardware, key program, hard surfaces, lavatories, concrete, painting, roofing, doors, windows, masonry, appliances and minor electrical. *Performs preventive and routine maintenance functions to recreation facilities mechanical systems, pools, chillers and related equipment. *Monitors and adjusts building system controls to ensure efficient operations. *Performs regular facility operation and park inspections, preventative maintenance and corrects or reports problems. *Plans and prioritizes maintenance duties with Facility Specialist Supervisor and other team members. *Maintains equipment in clean and safe condition; operates equipment safely and with care at all times. *Ensures compliance with applicable state and local health, safety and sanitation requirements including maintaining appropriate records. *Provides on-call services for the district *Obtains required building permits and inspections as needed for each job assignment. *Documents field changes to blueprints during construction. *Identifies and purchases materials for job assignments. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong Knowledge of: Principles, practices and methods used in facility maintenance Basic construction materials and principles Best practices of maintenance management Mechanical Systems such as pumps HVAC State Health and Safety requirements for public swimming pools and spas Building fire codes Maintenance and safe operation of powered equipment and hand tools. Education, Experience, and Training: *High school diploma or equivalent; two years of trade or technical school preferred; AND *Four (4) years of experience in park services, public works, or related field with emphasis on facility maintenance and/or specialized construction trade; some aquatics or recreation facility experience preferred OR *Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training Licenses and Certifications: *Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license. *Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operators License within 6 months Equal Employment Opportunity: Bend Park and Recreation District is an Equal Opportunity Employer Selection Process: Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training.
