THE POSITION The Facilities Assistant ensures that building maintenance requirements are met by assisting the Director of Facilities and other staff members in the daily care and operations of the Guthrie building. This position also performs various housekeeping duties throughout the building approximately 25% of the time, and up to 50% when extra coverage is needed. As a member of the Facilities department, the Facilities Assistant works cross-departmentally to ensure the safety and comfort of Guthrie staff and patrons. This position is full-time, non-exempt and benefits-eligible. Compensation for this position is $20.00 per hour plus benefits. Following the initial training period, this position will primarily work evenings and weekends (Sunday – Thursday), with some flexibility as needed. Applicants from populations underrepresented in the theater field are strongly encouraged to apply. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Building Maintenance • Assist in maintaining the Guthrie property to ensure the building is functioning properly. • Complete assigned maintenance work orders distributed by the Director of Facilities. • Assist in monitoring boilers, chillers, and all other equipment related to HVAC throughout the building. • Assist in daily water chemical treatment testing. • Proactively monitor light bulbs in the building and maintain lightbulb inventory. • Paint and repair dry wall as needed. • Complete other duties as assigned. 2. Housekeeping • Perform various housekeeping duties throughout the building and food service areas as scheduling requires, including but not limited to cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, mopping, and dusting. • Receive work direction from the Environmental Services Manager regarding housekeeping tasks and priorities. • Operate various pieces of custodial power equipment, including but not limited to carpet extractor and auto floor scrubber. • Clean carpet and upholstery surfaces as needed. • Follow policies and procedures for housekeeping in accordance with applicable codes and regulations. 3. Operations and Safety • Assist the Guests Services department in maintaining guest comfort and safety. • Assist Safety and Security management to ensure safe and secure building conditions. • Maintain fire codes and fire extinguishers, and assist with the testing of equipment. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS • Previous experience in building maintenance. • Willingness to obtain a special boilers license within the first 6 months of hire. • Ability to lift, squat, kneel, reach, and be on your feet for the majority of your shift. • Experience painting and repairing dry wall. • Experience cleaning carpet and upholstery. • Ability to work independently. • Ability to communicate effectively. • Ability to solve problems and work effectively with a variety of departments. • Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. • Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and other technical resources in order to accomplish work. • Experience working safely with different chemicals and solvents. • Experience, ability, and commitment to working with individuals and teams that are mixed across lines of difference such as race, gender-identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class and immigrant status. • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours/days, reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater.
