Summary Under the general direction of the Supervisor, performs routine custodial work in the school buildings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but not limited to the following: Open school and unlock all doors. Oversees and participates in the cleaning of the school building including floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, gym floors, windows, toilet equipment, turning on all lights, and other equipment. Raise the flag and lower at the end of each day. Check to see if the heat is operating properly and adjust controls, if necessary. Assist the account manager to maintain equipment and supplies, requisitions new materials when necessary. Handle light maintenance, i.e. loose screws, replace gliders on desk, fix or replace pencil sharpeners, replace light bulbs, minor repair of paper towel, tissue, and soap dispensers, and replace stained/missing ceiling tiles. Assists with supervising and participates in the maintenance and cleaning of designated buildings’ grounds including such activities as ice and snow removal from walk ways and entrances, graffiti removal, and other activity required to maintain the safe and efficient operation of a school building. Maintains and moves furniture, supplies and equipment as required. Clean the entrance door glass Police the outside of building for debris Dust mop all public corridors daily Dust the tops of lockers Set-up the cafeteria for lunch activities Clean up lunch facilities immediately after lunch Demonstrate knowledge of safe and effective work practices and other duties as assigned. Participates in all mandatory training programs as required. Operates and maintains cleaning equipment and tools. All Custodian are required and expected to be available for storm emergencies and snow removal details. Participation is mandatory and may impact normal shift times. The Custodian opens building and/or rooms and assist authorized building users with set-ups etc. Daily hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday A criminal Background Check, results of which are not necessarily a bar to employment, is required.
