This position will need a skilled mechanic to assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles. The person in this position will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems. Duties & Responsibilities · Helping shop Forman Implements and monitors a preventative maintenance program to assure cost effective maintenance and a scheduled maintenance program to provide maintenance by manufactures’ specifications · Ability to diagnose electric and mechanical issues, welding on an assortment of equipment · Small engine repair i.e. tampers, jumping jacks, blowers, water pumps · Ability to work with heavy equipment, pavers, skid steers, rollers, loaders and back hoes · Keeps maintenance and repair records compliant with DOT requirements · Performs preventative maintenance on all vehicles; order repair parts · Assists MPI departments with the development of specifications for vehicles and equipment to be used by MPI · Checks all repair work performed in shop completeness. This includes physical inspections and road tests before vehicle is turned back to user departments · Monitor equipment maintenance schedules and enforce when necessary · Help create a safe working environment in the shop and yard · Help create and grow a “team work” atmosphere between shop and operations · Have ideas and create ways to be cost efficient with equipment maintenance and repairs · Help lead the shop team in a positive manner · Ability to perform some work in severe weather conditions if needed Qualifications & Education Requirements · Graduate of High School · English a must, Spanish a plus · Min of 2-3 years mechanical experience · Valid drivers license CDL would be a plus · ASE not needed but a plus · Own tools and tool box · Able to work extra hours if needed and one weekend day · Wages depends on experience Additional Requirements · Able to lift and/or move 25-30 pounds over head · Good physical stamina, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or crawl · Able to work in a construction environment which will be dirty · Ability to problem solve and work through difficult situations with or without help Job Type: Full-time Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
