READ EVERYTHING ----------------------------- Name: Apricot Nick Names: appy / apple sauce Hatch Date: 05-26-2020 Species: Red Crowned Kakariki This is Apricot, she is a red crowned kakariki with a little bit of yellow pied. while she has not been DNA tested we call her a female, because she is spunky, hot tempered and very very sassy. She rarely sit still unless she is preening or napping and she LOVES to "bark" which is what I just call her version of chirping/squaking because it sounds so odd. Her favorite food is pizza crust (which she only gets on occasion) and she loves strawberries. She is on a diet of roudybush and vegetables. Which is one of the healthiest diets you can put birds on. She does NOT eat seed. Seed causes immense health issues, and I do require that whoever is best suited for her feeds her roudybush and fresh vegitables daily. She is NOT tamed. She does bite but she doesn't bite out of aggression, she only bites when you scare her. She is easily scared and very timid. She was hand raised by me, and she used to be tamed but, while moving a few months back I had a family friend take care of her who i thought knew they knew what they were doing. When Appy came back after I moved she wasn't the same anymore. She's scared of hands. I don't have the time needed in order to take care of her properly and re-tame her. I love her and she will NOT just go to any home, she has to go to the right home in order to get better. She has picked up the nervous habit of over preening and she liked to rub against cage bars/toys which has caused bald spots on her head but her feathers are coming back as I try my best to continue to work with her despite not having enough time. She is an amazing bird, and deserves someone who will care and tend to all of her needs. You will have to train her and desensitize her again in order for her to rehabilitate from being as spooked as she is. To ensure that not just anyone gets her, you will have to afford her rehoming fee and answer a specific set of questions after you TEXT me.
