A formal dance which includes a lesson on our own modernized form of swing dance, a dinner, and a night of dancing! What is swing dance? Swing dance is a form of dance which originated in the early 1900s. It involves two people dancing together, and consists of movements that you can stitch together to nearly any song. Despite its affiliation with 40s music, swing dance is very easy, if not easier, to do to modern music forms. 27swing was founded around the idea of swing dancing to modern music forms. Note: if you look up “Swing Dance”, most of the results will be videos with excessive spins and overcomplicated footwork. This is not what we will be teaching; swing dance is a lot simpler than that. What is the event? This is a swing dance formal, which means it’s a formal dance event based on swing dance. The day is split into 2 parts. During the first part, the lesson, we will teach how to swing dance. The lesson isn’t formal, and we recommend wearing casual clothing (t-shirts, tennis shoes, etc.). Then the second part, the formal, will take place that evening, where dinner will be served, followed by a night of dancing and fun. This event is available to everyone 13 and above. The deadline for registration is 7/17/21
