The Jammin Lamb Festival  features a culinary competition, Sheepdog Demos,  Free Live Music, Cash Bar and more.  This is a true celebration of lamb and the sheep industry in Colorado. The Downtown Plaza in Meeker will be the site for the Jammin’ Lamb Festival on Saturday night of the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials. Chefs will test their culinary skills as they prepare sample sized portions of Lamb. Cooking lamb utilizing their own cooking station on site, each entry will be judged by a panel at 4:30 pm and served to the public at 5:00 pm.  Each contestant will be given 50 pounds of lamb (choice of Boneless Shoulder, Ground Lamb or Riblets) to prepare. $20/plate will get you a meal with lamb samples from the contestants, sides from the Lions Club or a Dutch Oven Dessert or pie from the Sheep Camp Wagon. Don't want to purchase tickets right now? That's fine - they'll be on sale at the event. Each person will also receive a People’s Choice ticket to vote for their favorite contestant. Recipes for Each Entry will be printed and available at the Jammin' Lamb FestivalSponsored by Sandlot Brewery, Coors Field - Denver, the local Lions Club will host a CASH Bar/Beer garden at the event.  Sit and listen to the live music, visit with friends - watch a sheep herding demo and enjoy Meeker's small town hospitality. In the words of Barbara Platts, Aspen Times Contributor:  " Right off the bat in this cook-off, I learned that these chefs were not messing around. From a lamb charcuterie board, complete with homemade hummus and pita bread, to a ground lamb taco accented with a fresh Israeli salad, each of the entries was mouth-wateringly good.  ............ .For me, last weekend in Meeker had many firsts. It was my first time judging a lamb festival, first time experiencing the bar Chippers (more on that in the sidebar) and first time watching a sheepdog trial. But the most important first was getting to experience the town of Meeker and its overly generous community. This town has a pure authenticity to it that's hard to find in the Aspens or Denvers of this state. It's a place where people still go to their local drug store for a cup of joe in the morning or a pop in the afternoon. It's where almost everything is closed on Sundays, and people get more excited about meeting a new horse on their family's farm than going to some glitzy event. In Meeker, the American small-town culture is alive and well. Plus, it has a nice dash of Western flavor that reminds visitors they are in the Colorado Rockies."   Purchase tickets for the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials on Eventbrite If you have more questions about the Jammin' Lamb Festival - visit our Q&A section below the following photos or email us at jamminlamb@meekersheepdog.com  Refund Policy: We understand situations change.
