Canvasser Job Description Would you like to help people save money and do something good for the environment at the same time? Are you good at reading people and explaining things, but hesitant about certain aspects of a traditional sales or office environment? Revise Energy is seeking friendly, articulate, motivated and responsible people to join our outreach team. Work outside, independently, in communities throughout eastern Massachusetts to educate and connect people with resources available to them through the Mass Save program. About Mass Save Mass Save is a program that customers of Eversource, National Grid, and Columbia Gas pay into as part of their monthly utility bills for heat and electricity. As a result, these customers are entitled to Home Energy Assessments (HEAs) at no cost. Customers receive a total inspection of their homes’ energy efficiency, immediate savings measures such as LED light bulbs (also at no cost), and become eligible for additional incentives for further home upgrades, including 75% off insulation. Summary/Objective Responsible for going door-to-door and educating potential customers about the Mass Save Program, Energy Assessments, weatherization services and other program benefits. Schedule energy assessments with homeowners. Set up display tables at events such as farmers’ markets, town fairs and home shows. Follow up with prospective customers until assessments are scheduled. Flexible hours!- Full time/part time/nights/weekends Essential Functions • Travel to different neighborhoods and suburbs going door-to-door with the goal of scheduling home energy assessments • Share information and materials on the Mass Save Program • Encourage customers to schedule an assessment of their home and following up with customers until assessment is scheduled • Submit accurate lead information, using appropriate resources, to office staff • Set up and run information tables at events • Work an assigned territory, often up to 70-90 houses per day • Manage assigned territory and lead lists, ensuring efficient use of canvassing time • Check in with municipal authorities to ensure canvassing is in compliance with local by-laws Accountable For • Maintaining a minimum number of completed HEAs generated per month • Maintaining a minimum number of hours actively canvassing assigned territories, not including travel or prep time • Communicating with management and office staff daily • Working closely and harmoniously with other employees • Timely completion and accuracy of all work • Adherence to current code requirements, safety and health regulations, and company policies as well as municipal by-laws Job Requirements • Ability to work a nontraditional workweek • Excellent people skills and focus on superior customer service • Team player; ability to communicate effectively • Familiarity with Mass Save Program is preferred • Ability to pass local background checks as required • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; Canvassers are responsible for getting to assigned territories daily Physical Demands • May perform work both indoors and outdoors as needed • May be exposed to inclement weather conditions and other work conditions including excessive heat, cold, wind, snow and storms • Requires extensive standing, walking; occasional kneeling and bending • May be periodically required to lift items in excess of 25 lbs • Frequently exposed to noise, dust, dirt and other related hazards Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
