MIAMI GARDENS, FL — A 38-year-old man was arrested after demanding cream cheese and waving a gun at a Starbucks barista in Miami Gardens.
Omar Wright faces aggravated assault and armed robbery charges, reports said.
Wright got upset in the Starbucks drive-thru line after they handed him an incorrect order, ABC 7 reported. When he returned to the drive-thru window to ask for cream cheese for his bagel, the barista asked if he had paid for the cream cheese, which angered him further and he pulled out a gun.
She gave him the cream cheese and he drove away, CBS 46 reported.
The 23-year-old barista also happened to be the daughter of Miami Gardens Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt.
"Forget about the badge, forget about the title, that's my child," Noel-Pratt told Local 10 News. "And I thought about, am I going to see her again? Is she OK? Of course, she was upset, she was crying, and so I had to go into mom mode."
Wright claims he didn't pull the gun on the barista and that he only put it in the air because it was falling out of his pocket, reports said.
During his first court appearance, he reportedly said he didn't believe he should be charged with armed robbery.
After being released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center following his court appearance, Wright told Local 10 News, "Always go to Dunkin' Donuts. Never Starbucks."
