An evening of blues and contemporary jazz with Zakiya Hooker and Ollan Bell! Zakiya Hooker is John Lee Hooker's living legacy. She is the singer-songwriter daughter of this American Icon. Her music has carried her all over the world where she’s performed at the world-famous Fillmore Auditorium, the San Francisco Blues Festival, the Monterey Jazz & Blues Festival and many more. She has been on the cover of well- known trade including Billboard Magazine. Her voice can be heard on advertisements for LEXUS and AIWA, and on the soundtrack of the movie Chalk, which has won the Camera d'Or at Cannes and Grand Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in San Francisco. In 1993 Zakiya released her first CD "Another Generation of The Blues.” In 1997 she released her second CD "Flavors of The Blues.” Ollan Christopher Bell, aka, Chris James is a founder member of the R&B group The Natural Four. The group was formed in 1967 in Oakland and started receiving notoriety in the 70’s after signing with the Curtis Mayfield label. From 1972 to 1976, the Natural Four toured the United States and appeared in such venues as the Apollo Theater and appeared on numerous TV programs including Soul Train and American Bandstand. The group shared stages with legendary artist Earth, Wind & Fire, The Temptations, The Isley Brothers and Curtis Mayfield. James is married to Zykia Hooker. James’ hit song, “Can This be Real” quickly became a 1973 hit.
