Interested in starting a Beach Fossils, Mac Demarco, The Strokes, Interpol, Tame Impala, The Symposium, Home, Dirty Art Club, Beach House - ish original band? For whatever reason, it doesn't seem like much interest in making music like that down here. On craigslist at least. Any way. I'm Bryant, 39, recently moved outside the city (San Francisco before that, St Paul before that) to beautiful Blue Island and now that everything's opening back up I would really like to start playing music with other folks again. I've been playing guitar for forever, not necessarily the most technically proficient but I come up with cool ideas and can write complete songs (all instruments) in this style of music relatively easy. I have sang and fronted bands in the city (but don't need to sing), play bass (would rather not full-time), have picked up modular synth over the summer (maybe?), build my own tube amplifiers and have a very solid pedal board - in general, I'd say rhythm guitar & singing is most fitting but don't mind jumping around either. I like being in a band with people I genuinely like (and vice versa)...I think finding that space between [thoughtful, interesting writing] x [high quality, interesting sound] x [not taking anything too seriously] is incredibly rewarding, but pretty difficult to get all 3. Oh, and I have a day job. And a huge space in an old warehouse to practice in. I have links to past work, plenty of phone recorded ideas, etc but would rather not post to a public forum. If any of the above sounds interesting please reach out and if it seems like we would fit I can send over my stuff and then hopefully grab a beer discussing aspirations, bands we love, bands we hate, etc. Any way, hope everyone's doing all right and ready to get back at it.
