BEL AIR, MD — The Applebee's at the Greenbrier Shopping Center is closing.
The Bel Air Applebee's will close June 29.
"They were a COVID casualty," Joseph Snee, the attorney for the restaurant, said at the Harford County Liquor Control Board's meeting Wednesday.
The business was slated to turn in its liquor license at the meeting. Snee asked for about 20 days to get its alcohol out of the business, a request the board unanimously approved.
Applebee's of Bel Air is working to move the liquor to the Aberdeen Applebee's, Snee said, and the comptroller of Maryland informed his office the Bel Air business had to "keep the license in play" to allow for the goods to be transferred.
"It's unfortunate," Snee said of the Bel Air Applebee's closure. "It's a great location."
As of June 30, the nearest Applebee's will be at 991 Beards Hill Rd. in Aberdeen, which is a little more than 9 miles away. There is also an Applebee's at 5231 Campbell Blvd. in Nottingham, about 20 miles away.
