RI Foundation Offering Grants To Jewish Charitable Organizations

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island Foundation is offering over $36,000 in grants to Jewish community charitable organizations, synagogues, and day schools through the Bliss, Gross, and Horowitz Fund, according to a news release from the foundation. The Bliss, Gross, and Horowitz Fund awards grants to proposals that develop connections between the Jewish community and the state, deepen the understanding of Jewish culture through scholarship or historical preservation, or provide for basic needs such as food and housing. Charitable organizations that provide any of the above services can also apply for funding to support capacity-building activities, including board development, strategic planning, and fundraising. Synagogues and dat schools can only apply for project support. "We are pleased to offer Jewish charitable organizations serving the greater Providence community additional support," said Inés Merchán, grant programs officer at the Rhode Island Foundation, in a statement. "We look forward to working with eligible nonprofits in their vital work addressing the needs of all Rhode Islanders." The application deadline for the funding is July 16. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $10,000 and priority will be given to groups that clearly state their goals and objectives, have measurable outcomes, and provide a clear sustainability plan. Organizations that received ding last year include the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, the Jewish Community Day School, and Temple Emanu-El.
