EAST GREENWICH, RI — A 29-year-old man who is facing charges in connection with a road rage case has turned himself in for assault, said East Greenwich police in a news release. Cody Toneatti is now facing Felony Assault for allegedly swinging an axe at the victim, said police. He was scheduled to be arraigned in District Court immediately. The charges against Toneatti stem from an incident that took place Sunday, June 13 when he and his brother, 31-year-old Matthew Toneatti, were involved in a minor accident with another vehicle on the highway near the New London Turnpike. Police say the Toneatti brothers followed the vehicle to the McDonald's off Exit 7 and both began striking the car with a hatchet. Both men were arrested on disorderly conduct charges and Cody was also charged with causing malicious damage to the other vehicle. The two men are due back in court on July 12.
