Ford Heights Woman Stabs One In Back, Officer In Hand: Sheriff

FORD HEIGHTS, IL — A woman in her early 40s has been charged with battery after Cook County Sheriff's police said she stabbed another woman in the back, as well as an officer in the hand. According to Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart, around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Torra Johnson, 42, of Ford Heights, stabbed a 37-year-old woman in the back with a knife. When an officer tried to intervene, Johnson then stabbed him in the hand, Dart said. The injured officer used his taser to stop Johnson, according to the investigation. According to Dart, the victim is still hospitalized, but is expected to recover from her injuries. Johnson and the injured officer were treated and released from area hospitals, and two other people involved in the altercation were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, Dart said. On Monday, Johnson was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery to a police officer, according to the investigation. Her bond was set at $30,000 during her court appearance in Markham. She has been released from custody after her bond was posted. The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
