Meet Enzo. He had been dumped in San Lorenzo Canyon in Socorro County, and I found him while hiking in March. I brought him home and decided not to take him to the shelter, based on his apparent trauma history. I had him neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and have him in professional dog training. He is crate trained, house trained, and knows basic obedience commands. He has some anxiety-based reactive behaviors. For example, walks around the neighborhood are tough for him because he wants to follow people, dogs and cars.
Here are the expectations Enzo has for his future adopters:
*People who can offer him an enriched life, both indoors and out, and who understand the herding dog personality.
*People who will invest in additional training post-adoption.
*People who agree to return him to us - no questions asked - if it doesn't work out.
*People who agree to at least one play date with Enzo before taking him home, in order to ensure it's a good fit.
*No cats.
*A few acres for him to run around (preferred, not required).
