Hermetic Order of the Garden Dawn is an organic gardening service dedicated to the greater Seattle area with a mission to promote sustainable stewardship of private land through permaculture practices, soil rehabilitation and a native plant focus. The owner/operator started the company three years ago and has gotten through the past busy seasons with the help of various friends picking up hours here and there but now with summer in full swing and work piling up, we really need someone who has at least 20 hours a week consistently available help. At this time the gig will be $20 an hour cash paid at the end of each work day ($25 if you have experience on a gardening crew and can ID common NW plants already) with 20+ hours available and a fairly flexible schedule we can work out together. The majority of the work will be weeding and mulching. Must be able to weed for long periods of time even in the rain (popping in a podcast or music to help the time go by is definitely encouraged). As we get closer to the fall, there will likely be an opportunity to to move into full time year round with benefits and make everything official for the right person but if part time and cash is what you want we could continue with that as well. Gardening in the winter is tough work so if you only want to do this for the summer no hard feelings! Requirements: * must have your own vehicle (will be reimbursed for gas, we have clients everywhere from Capitol Hill to Lake Forest Park and you’ll need to bring the tools we buy for you to each site so busing is not an option) * physically able to lift 50lbs, kneel for long periods of time (not for someone with bad knees or back) * nature lover with a passion for sustainability * good attitude and work ethic!
