I’ve made a bold move and decided that I do not want to support big companies like SC Johnson, Kelloggs, Conagra and others any longer. The list of natural companies that have been swallowed up by these companies also troubles me - Burt's Bees purchased by Clorox, Tom's of Maine now by Colgate-Palmolive, Odwalla now by Coca Cola, Naked Juice now by Pepsi, Lara Bar, now by General Mills and the list goes on. Many of these companies have distribute products in other parts of the world that meet higher European standards, yet continue to sell the lower standard versions here in the U.S. I’ve recently been educated as to how many harmful chemicals are in so many “mainstream” products - hello Windex, Clorox wipes, Tide and most coffee. I’ve decided to funnel my dollars to a U.S. based (Buy American!), online store that has been in business for 35+ years and has a mission to provide greener, cleaner products for the same price AND they get delivered to my door. No more Target/Walmart. If this is at all compelling to you, let me know and I’ll share more about where I’m shopping. It means something to me that my dollars are going to a better place for things I'm already buying. We do have a choice where we spend - a simple shift that is better for our families and the planet and doesn't support a structure that in my view, is broken.
