Maintenance Worker/ Entry-level Parkrose School District Deadline: June 30, 2021, or Until Filled Hourly Rate: $18.83 - $20.51 per hour DOE; Job Classification: M Hours: 40 hours per week; 260 days per year Overview: The job of “Maintenance Worker/Entry-level”, is done for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; documenting information, resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns, ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and working with other assigned staff as necessary. Required: ● Regular attendance needs to be maintained ● Adhere to all district policies of safety and health including all precautions such as the Blood Borne Pathogens Control Plan and Personal Protective Equipment Preferred: ● Prior work experience ● Multicultural competency ● Basic computer skills ● Bilingual Preferred Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: ● Ability to learn to operate hand and power tools used in general maintenance functions, perform basic math to calculate measurements, quantities, etc. ● Ability to learn of methods and use of materials, tools and equipment used in general maintenance functions, standards for safe use of equipment ● Ability to learn to be a problem solver and troubleshoot issues ● Ability to lift a maximum of 75 pounds ● Ability to push or pull a minimum of 75 pounds ● Ability to stand for prolonged periods, perform a variety of skilled tasks, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, adhere to safe work practices, establish priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision. ● Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling/stooping/ reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/depth perception ● Ability to adjust to flexible assignments often on short notice ● Ability to communicate with students, staff, and the public ● Ability to work as a member of a team to complete assigned duties/tasks ● Ability to understand and follow directions as given by Supervisor Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent License, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: ● Valid Class Driver’s License and evidence of insurability ● Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (cost to the employee: $12.50 for fingerprints at the time of registration; $59.00 for criminal background check will be paid through a one-time payroll deduction) ● Blood Pathogen Training and other mandatory annual training Reports to: Maintenance/Facilities Supervisor To Apply: Candidates will complete the Parkrose application online at TalentEd. Applicants with culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. _______________________________________________________________________________ Position Details Essential Job Functions: ● Assist other personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce and meeting shift requirements. ● Prepare documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. ● Inspect system components (e.g. parts, equipment and facility appurtenances (i.e. sidewalks, fences, boilers, air handling units, plumbing systems, roads, etc.) for the purpose of identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventative maintenance. ● Procure equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently. ● Diagnose and repair system components (e.g. facility damage, damaged playground equipment, plumbing issues, heating/boiler problems, roof leaks, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. ● Install system component parts, playground, classroom and office equipment, plumbing fixtures, HVAC related items, and tenances (e.g. sidewalks, fences, roads, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition. ● Respond to emergency situations (e.g. facility damage, damaged playground equipment, plumbing issues, heating/boiler problems, roof leaks, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. ● Transport various items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job sites. ● Build items (e.g. counters, temporary partitions, etc.) for the purpose of modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs. ● Complete work orders in a timely manner. ● Complete other work as assigned by Supervisor.
