Description
Looking for an experienced home interested in a quirky African Fat Tail gecko, preferably someone who has the space to take his full setup and is willing to research to keep up on the care of this species.
The gecko is roughly around 5 years old and has a form of albinism, he's sensitive to light and would do better in a darker room. He's also a bit of a quirky hunter and closes his eyes before striking at food, so he often misses and is usually unable to catch faster prey without help. But he does well feeding on black soldier fly larvae, wax worms, and mealworms.
SUPPLIES INCLUDED:
• Large (48″ x 24″ x 10″) 50 Gallon "Low Boy™" Flat Terrarium, with screen lid
• Automatic digital thermostat
• Large heat mat
• Heat lamp, with heat bulb
• Multiple hides
• Multiple fake plant decor
• Food/water dishes
The gecko comes with everything you need besides some food and paper towel. I can also rehome without the supplies if you already have equipment, but this setup has been working great to meet all the gecko's needs and I don't have the space to keep all those supplies.
The tank itself is a pain to move due to the bulky size, it might help to bring a friend to help move it. You will also need a larger surface to set it on at home to give space for the heat pad underneath.
The gecko has also never seen substrate besides moss for a humid hide, he's currently on paper towel. I'd suggest avoiding substrate due to his hunting "skills" increasing the chance of him grabbing a mouth full of dirt and risking impaction or infection. He's been great at picking a specific corner to do his business in, which has kept the tank very easy to maintain.
There is a rehoming fee of $350 and I can give more details if needed, feel free to ask any questions.
