Description

Come for a family celebration of Juneteenth, with readings of two children's books, followed by a resource giveaway! Take a family trip to the historic Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor for a reading of two award-winning books, detailing a child's journey on the Underground Railroad. Each child or family will receive a copy of The Patchwork Path, and Frederick Douglass: The Last Day of Slavery; children's gardening tools; and a nature coloring book with crayons. Children will plant a freedom garden that they can take home in celebration of emancipation! This event is brought to you by Buffalo Freedom Gardens, the CopperTown Block Club, and Grassroots Gardens WNY. Thank you to Just Buffalo Literary Center's Civil Writes project and the Erie County Children's Foundation for supporting this program.
