Learn the basics of bicycle maintenance to keep your ride in top shape! Learn the basics of bicycle maintenance to keep your ride in top shape! In this class we will cover the basics of bicycle anatomy, maintenance procedures and beginner repairs to help the student to keep rolling. By the end of the class they should be able to properly name all the major parts of your bicycle, be able to properly care for their bicycles to increase the lifespan of their components, fix a flat tire and have a better understanding of shifting and braking. At the end of the class the instructor will field general questions Prior to class we will have a quick safety chat going over what not to touch on your bike which will mostly be about not to where to stick your fingers while you’re working on the bike. Attendees should bring their personal bikes, clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. For continuing maintenance at home, it is recommend you get a METRIC allen key set/bicycle specific multi tool and a set of pedros tire levers (other brand tire levers are fine, but those ones are the best). A metric folding allen key set should be available at most hardware stores for around $10.
