An informal opportunity for new beekeepers to learn about basic hive inspection techniques as taught by a certified master beekeeper.
Limited to six participants who are members of the Missouri State Beekeeper's Association (MSBA and registered with Great Plains Master Beekeeping Program (GPMBP). Participants will need to bring their own protective gear. We'll go hands-on with the bees, demonstrating proper techniques and exploring the inner workings of a hive. New beekeepers can have their questions answered by an experienced beekeeper with years of experience.
Participants can record 1.5 field hours for credit in GPMB. Registration with GPMB is free and can be done at this site: https://gpmb.unl.edu/become-member
Membership in MSBA costs $10 and sign-up is here: http://mostatebeekeepers.org/
For those who wish to stay after and dine at Thee Abbey we can continue to talk bees over dinner.
