STONEHAM, MA — It's never official until there's a grand reopening ceremony. After months of renovation, the Steele Playground will finally get one.
A celebration will take place Sat., June 26 at the playground. There will be a rededication ceremony, games and an ice cream truck. (The weather is forecast is expected to be a hot, muggy one.)
The playground was closed in early March for sorely needed work, modernizing it and bringing it up to ADA compliance.
Steele was part of the town's 2018 Open Space and Recreation Plan and funded by a $100,000 grant by the Division of Conversation Services.
The entire original play structure has been removed, the site was regraded and new equipment was installed.
