Salem Hospital Eases Coronavirus-Related Visitation Rules

SALEM, MA — Salem Hospital has eased some of its strict coronavirus-related visitation rules to allow one visitor or support person per patient for both in-patient and out-patient care, expanded visitation hours and a reopened cafeteria. Masks remain required in all Mass. General Hospital facilities regardless of vaccination status. All staff, patients and visitors will continue to be screened for coronavirus symptoms and must stay away from the hospital if they have had a possible exposure. Salem Hospital now allows one visitor or support person for patients as they arrive for emergency or appointment care. Hospitalized patients will continue to have one visitor per day and must select that visitor during the admission process. The visitor for a particular day can be changed through speaking with a nurse. The cafeteria has been reopened to both visitors and patients. Two parents or one parent and one support person can be in the nursery with a newborn. The updated birthplace policy can be found here. Some exceptions may be made in compassionate care situations with the approval of the patient's care team. All designated visitors must be 18 years or older.
