Press release from the City of Orlando: June 22, 2021 Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz Unveil the New Roberto Clemente Road Street Sign Following Renaming Approval  The change also aligns with Orange County Public Schools' recent decision to rename the school on the street from Stonewall Jackson Middle School to Roberto Clemente Middle School. A native of Puerto Rico, Roberto Clemente was a Hall of Fame baseball star and a humanitarian. He passed away in 1972 in a plane crash while bringing supplies to survivors of an earthquake in Nicaragua.  Roberto Clemente's sons – Roberto Jr. and Luis - will join the community for the new street sign unveiling.   WHEN:   Wednesday, June 23, 2021  10:30 a.m.  This press release was produced by the City of Orlando.
