NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers and other COVID-conscious people rolled up their sleeves more than 9 million times for vaccines in the city. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the milestone Monday, along with news that the city's average coronavirus positivity hit a record low of 0.53 percent. "This is just a staggering figure," Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday about the vaccinations. The city's vaccination campaign has apparently beat back the coronavirus, but significant numbers of New Yorkers in neighborhoods scattered through the city still haven't received doses. About 55 percent of all New Yorkers have received at least one dose so far, according to city data. Of adults, that stands at 66 percent — less than the 70 percent mark Gov. Andrew Cuomo used statewide to relax remaining coronavirus restrictions. De Blasio said the city efforts to boost vaccinations through incentives — such as $2,500 weekly prizes — will continue.
