BURLINGTON, MA — The town will swear in incoming Police Chief Thomas Browne one day before Chief Michael Kent retires. Browne, a 26-year law enforcement veteran who has worked in the department for two decades, will be sworn in Wednesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. at Grand View Farms in a public ceremony. Browne has been deputy chief since 2018. His roots run deep in town — two of the Burlington native's brothers work in the fire department and a third retired from the fire department after 34 years. Kent's retirement is effective July 1. He has been with the department for four decades, leading it for 11 years.
