ARLINGTON, MA — Negotiations have started between the town of Natick and Arlington Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine, who was offered the role of town administrator following a unanimous vote by the Natick Select Board last week.
"It instantly creates a bittersweet feeling about leaving Arlington," Chapdelaine said of the selection process, as well as the vote naming him the candidate for town administrator.
In a town update on ACMi, Chapdelaine said he will remain with Arlington at least through the summer and help lead the transition to a new manager. He said Natick provides an opportunity that aligns with his professional goals.
"I think it's a values match for Arlington, which is compelling for me," Chapdelaine said. "It provides a professional opportunity I've thought about for a while, in regard to economic development and management of a broader commercial tax base."
Chapdelaine, 41, lives in Dedham and has been Arlington's town manager for nearly 10 years. He previously served as the city administrator in Fall River.
