Firefighters Battled 2-Alarm House Fire On Montauk Avenue

NEW LONDON, CT — Reported before 8 a.m. Tuesday, a two-alarm fire at 204 Montauk Ave., has several neighboring fire departments assisting New London firefighters battle the blaze. Just before 9 a.m., fire command was requesting the Red Cross to assist at least nine people displaced by the house fire. Children are reported to be among those displaced. Update at 10 a.m.: Emergency scanner updates that the fire was knocked down and all residents made it out of the dwelling. The Salvation Army canteen was on scene of the fire providing meals and hydration to first responders. It's reported two people were taken to the hospital; a firefighter with a hand injury and a pregnant woman. The two alarm fire on Montauk Avenue in #NewLondon is knocked down. The road remains closed between Linden St and Willetts Avenue. Two people were sent to the hospital. They noted that "duty companies made a quick and aggressive attack saving the building."
