Description

Press release from the City of Johnston: June 22, 2021 The Iowa State Fire Marshal Division has issued a burn ban in Polk County, effective at 6 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2021. Despite the rain that fell over the weekend, much of Iowa is still in a drought, including almost all of Polk County in a "Severe Drought" according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.  This creates dangerous conditions for people and property should open burning get out of control.  For these reasons, a burn ban will be in effect for Polk County until conditions improve.  It has been determined that conditions in Polk County are such that open burning constitutes a danger to life or property.  View the Burn Ban Request View the Burn Ban Proclamation For more information please see the attached documents or visit the following websites: State Fire Marshal's Office   Polk County Air Quality Division   This press release was produced by the City of Johnston.
