SAN DIMAS, CA — A woman was killed late-Monday night after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on the 57 Freeway in San Dimas, according to California Highway Patrol.
The 38-year-old woman died from injuries she sustained after being ejected from the car she was a passenger in, police said. Her name is being withheld pending notification of her family.
The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Raymond Avalos of Victorville, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to CHP Officer Tony Chen.
"We do suspect alcohol to be a factor in this collision," he said.
The crash occurred around 11:55 p.m. on the southbound 57 Freeway near Covina Boulevard. Avalos was driving his vehicle at around 50 to 55 mph when it veered to the right of the road and struck a metal guard rail.
The woman wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, Chen said.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is encouraged to call the CHP's Baldwin Park office at (626) 338-1164.
